We are currently looking to recruit a dynamic and compassionate DHT to join the team at Dean Park Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has existing leadership and management experience looking to play a key role within our strong Senior Leadership Team.

We have a clear vision at Dean Park: to create a learning environment in which everyone can flourish. This vision is lived and breathed around our school community and underpins everything we do.

Dean Park Primary School serves the village of Balerno. The school roll is currently pupils in the main building and we have capacity for 88 full time pupils in our nursery. The Head Teacher is ably supported by a Depute Head Teacher and a Principal Teacher. We are looking for a second DHT to support and enhance our team.

Key strengths of the school include our excellent support for pupils, our inclusive practices, consistent approaches to learning, teaching and assessment and the very positive partnerships we enjoy in our local community. Our refreshed curriculum is place-based and makes the most of our beautiful surroundings. Our pupils are enthusiastic, hardworking and relationships across the school are very positive. Our parent body are highly engaged and very supportive of our work. In November we had an extremely positive follow up HMIE inspection and continue to be focussed on improving outcomes for children and families in our improvement journey.

At Dean Park Primary, the Depute Head Teacher will:

• Have a proven track record of leading sustainable change and promoting a culture of support and excellence

• Support the leadership and management of staff, children and families at First Level so they can deliver outstanding care to all children

• Have a sound knowledge of early years pedagogy and child development and will provide support to staff to develop play pedagogy throughout the school

• Support and challenge staff to ensure the highest quality experiences for all children, including children with Additional Support Needs

• Develop parent partnerships and family learning approaches

• Lead and organise Sports and wider achievement opportunities across the school

• Establish creative, responsive and effective approaches to teaching and learning and ensure a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all pupils can have a voice, achieve success and become highly engaged in their own learning

• Work within the dynamic SLT to facilitate school improvement

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
