About the Role

The Assessment Product Manager develops and leads the product strategy for assessment in the UK that will drive growth and contribute to UK business goals. They are accountable for creating a forward-looking financial plan, for delivering planned income and for the profitability of their portfolio.

The Assessment Product Manager identifies market opportunities and customer needs, leads the development of innovative product solutions to meet those needs and develops a pipeline of products to grow income and profit. They are accountable for working with the Secondary and Primary and Early Years Product Directors and teams to identify assessment opportunities and lead the development of one assessment strategy. They will lead the development of new business cases for standalone assessment proposals for secondary schools and be accountable for delivering those products to the market on time, to quality and budget They will support the development in the secondary teams of assessment proposals related to those portfolios. They will work with the global Head of Assessment to ensure assessments are valid and reliable, and to drive down costs in assessment item development.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

Essential:
  • Can demonstrate a track record of driving effective revenue, profit/surplus and market share growth through business and operational excellence strategies within domestic or international markets.
  • Experience in the conceptualisation, development and delivery of innovative, successful educational products and services.
  • Experience of UK Education markets and strong commercial experience and skills.
  • Proven team leadership, management, negotiating, and influencing skills, with strong financial management skills.
  • Extensive experience of school publishing or teaching in a relevant subject
  • Extensive experience of print and digital publishing and strategic partnership building
  • Extensive experience of managing teams

Desirable:
  • Strong track record of managing authors and of publishing successful brands
  • Extensive network of contacts - experts, authors and editors
