The Science and Psychology Education Team at OUP publish a wide range of successful and respected courses for ages 11-18, working with teachers, educational partners, and industry experts to ensure maximum impact on educational outcomes.

About the Role

NB This is a fixed term contract for a minimum period of 12 months.

We are looking for a Commissioning Editor with a proven track record in delivering a successful strategy focused on the customers' needs and with strong project management skills.

You will be responsible for supporting the implementation of an innovative customer strategy for Science and Psychology that will drive growth and focus on developing a strong relationship with our customers by always having a deep understanding of their needs and anticipating how market changes will impact on them.

You will work with authors, teachers, experts, and awarding bodies to develop the best possible resources to support UK schools.

Working with internal and external teams, you will also be responsible for the delivery on time and to budget of projects through strong team and project management skills.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

The successful candidate will have:
  • An innovative and creative mindset
  • A strong background in educational publishing, teaching, or adjacent industry
  • A deep understanding of the needs of teachers and learners in UK Secondary schools
  • A good understanding of the UK's STEM curricula and qualifications, in particular for Science and/or Psychology.
  • A track-record of having successfully implemented complex projects that have driven share and revenue growth whilst remaining profitable
  • A good knowledge of digital education product.

In addition:
  • a good honours degree or equivalent, ideally in a relevant discipline
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • a high level of computer literacy
  • a creative mindset.
