Job description

As the Senior Data Analyst for Making Better Use of Data and Transforming Technology, you will:

be a trusted advisor regarding the economic analysis of the digital transformation of public services and build CDDO�s existing analytical capability to help build the evidence base, leading analysis on the Making Better Use of Data and Transforming Technology missionssupport the Strategy Team with and the wider organisation with bespoke economic analysis on complex and novel projects, including for HMT fiscal eventsidentify opportunities for your analysis to support improved implementation where challenges exist, building relationships with analysts and key officials across Government to support implementation of the DDaT Strategy and the wider Government programmelead analysis for 6-8 week �deep dive� projects and shorter investigations that produce evidence-based recommendations for action. Where key key areas are identified, you will be responsible for producing high quality reports combining deep insights from quantitative data analysis with robust qualitative evidence gathered through fieldworkprovide ongoing assistance to departments on the implementation of key strategic priorities and programmes, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that delivery is underpinned by robust plans and metrics, appropriate governance and a strong evidence base

Person specification

This role requires:

an experienced analyst with experience working in Government, academia or the private sector and knowledge of and experience of applying a wide range of analytical techniques, such as multivariate regression analysis, predictive modelling, mapping, economic analysis etc.� Membership of the Government Economic Service, the Government Operational Research Service, the Government Social Research or the Government Statistician Group�strong analytical skills, with some experience of working in high-performing teams producing top-quality analysis to multiple customers and managing various deadlines.� An understanding and experience in the application of the Green Book techniques in Business Cases would be an advantage and some knowledge of data analysis and visualisation in Python / R likewisethe ability to work proactively and set the agenda, working with a high degree of autonomy and being comfortable identifying the priorities in your policy areas, and what needs to take place to achieve them. This will require considering a wide range of evidence and advice from expert stakeholders�the ability to build and maintain a range of relationships with a range of people, within the CDDO and across Whitehall - working closely with a wide range of experts and delivery partners outside of Government, including frontline practitioners, academics and industry leadersstrong communication will need to be able to set out complex information and recommendations to Ministers and other senior stakeholders in a clear, concise and persuasive fashiona degree in a numerate discipline or equivalent professional work experience - this could be as an operational researcher, statistician, social researcher, or economist, for example
