Job Description

Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC. It was established by Dundee City Council in July to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city.Working 22.2 hours per week, working within the Active Schools Team, located at various location across Dundee. Active Schools is part of Leisure and Sport section, (Leisure and Culture Dundee).This is a fixed term post until 31 March

Requirements

Candidates should be Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

The fundamental aim of the Active Schools Network is to offer children and young people the opportunities and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles, now and into adulthood. Active Schools Managers and Co-ordinators are responsible for developing an infrastructure to recruit, support and sustain a network of volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers who in turn deliver physical activity and sport before, during and after school and in the wider community.

The Individual

You will have practical experience of working with children in education, sport, health, leisure and/or recreation industry. Ability to identify good practice and promote the role of physical activity (including sport, play, health and active travel) as a contributor to community development. You will have experience in leading and managing of projects in areas of education, sport, health, leisure and/or recreation industry. Experience of budgeting and reporting procedures. Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work on own initiative. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal colleagues. Ability to assist with the process of integration, bringing together all elements of Active Schools work. Ability to respond positively and enthusiastically to change within Active Schools and Leisure and Culture Dundee. Ability to recognise, create and seize opportunities to put ideas into practice and order to achieve objectives. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of different people at every level and in different organisations. Ability to present information in an interesting and stimulating manner. Ability to positively overcome internal and external barriers at all levels in order to achieve results. Ability to build trust and devolve responsibility and resources to partners/colleagues. You will be IT literate. Experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to lead and develop programmes and projects from conception to implementation. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
