Summer School Welfare Coordinator Position Available in Scotland

For Welfare Coordinator role, **First Aid Certificate** is **essential.**

This post is mandatory **residential** roles. All meals and accommodation are **included**.

You will be working with children between the ages of 11-18 years from various countries and cultures around the world. Passing a DBS/Discloure Scotland is essential.

The Welfare Coordinator is also known as one of the two titles below:
Scotland: Child Protection Officer (CPO)

England: Local Designated Safeguarding Lead (LDSL)

**Reports to: Centre Manager, Lead Child Protection Officer (Kieren Laverty), Designated Safeguarding Lead (Shannon Sweeney)**

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**Safeguarding Responsibilities**

1. To have read and understood the safeguarding policy. Understand how to raise and report concerns, following the chain of command, outlined in the Safeguarding Policy.

2. Ensure that all students’ and staff equal rights entitlement, are met.

3. Ensure that all on-site staff follow the behavioural code of conduct set out by St. Andrew’s College Language Schools’. Ensuring that staff have been given the appropriate training and understand all policies that may relate to student and their own safeguarding needs.

4. Ensure that all students follow the schools code of conduct that has been set out in the student contract.

5. Make certain that all under 18s on campus have a purple lanyard, and over 18s have a white lanyard, so that they are clearly identifiable.

6. Make certain that all staff without a completed disclosure check (PVG/DBS) are clearly identifiable through a lilac ID card.

7. Make sure that students and staff are clearly notified and regularly reminded of the online safety policy that has been put in place to protect both staff and students during their time on campus.

8. Ensure that all students are made aware of who the Welfare Coordinator are on their campus and are aware of how and when to report to them during their stay.

9. Make certain that all students are aware that any information they disclose to you, can not remain private and that it must be shared with the appropriate personnel.

10. Ensure all risk assessments are continually monitored.

**Welfare and Administration**

11. To have read and understood the supervision manual and staff handbook and be fully conversant with our policies for the welfare and protection of children. At all times whilst on duty, staff are responsible for the care, welfare and safety of students whilst ensuring they follow the St Andrew’s College Summer school rules.

12. Ensuring that each student’s dietary requirements are met and that their cultures and religions are respected.

13. Induct and liaise with other staff regarding student pastoral care duties.

14. Helping students to adjust to life in the UK and to understand information concerning personal safety, British law, culture and values and St Andrew’s College Language Schools campus rules.

15. Organising and participating in student orientation and induction, including ensuring that each student has relevant information, keys, a lanyard, and ID badges on arrival.

16. Ensuring that Group Leaders are supervising their students effectively and where necessary, oversee their supervision, including managing lights-out duty.

17. Ensuring that all students attend their timetabled activity/class. Liaise with Director of Studies/Activity Manager to ensure all students on the registers are at the appropriate class/activity. Contact group leaders to locate students if necessary.

18. When required, supervising students during their free time.

19. Planning and organising pre-arrival and departure checks and damage surveys. Assist the Centre Manager with collection and return of damage deposits on arrival and departure.

20. Organising and implementing airport transfers for student arrivals and departures.

21. Ensuring everyone is aware of emergency procedures.

22. Ensuring information relating to fire, Health and Safety and medical emergencies is correctly displayed on the information board, in residences and in the Common Room.

23. Being responsible for Health and Safety issues that may arise in accommodation buildings and overseeing evacuation during any fire drills/alarms.

24. Ensuring that all St Andrew’s College Language Schools’ Health & Safety policies are implemented and monitored.

25. Ensuring that accurate rooming lists are kept, and fire drills are carried out on a regular basis.

26. Building a community spirit between groups in accommodation through notice boards, implementing halls of residence rules and competitions.

27. Maintaining student discipline in residences, liaising with the management team and Group Leaders. Report all damages to the Centre Manager and Group Leaders immediately.

28. Acting as a Group Leader for individual students if necessary. Duties include ensuring their safety, dealing with q
