The Role
Worcestershire Family Safeguarding Service is a small and highly specialist team trained in delivering interventions to parents/carers, working alongside social workers to keep children safe. WFS is an innovative service providing a new way of working, contributing to our vision to support and value family life whilst empowering parents to care for their own children well.

The aim is to support social workers in tackling the trio of vulnerabilities (domestic abuse, mental illness and substance use) through a multi-disciplinary team that works with the adults in the family, enabling social workers to focus more on the children. It incorporates principles used in Family Safeguarding to support our workforce to have the tools needed to do the very best job.

The service works in partnership with families to address challenges and risk factors through a multi-disciplinary approach. The service builds on the strength-based approach already modelled in Signs of Safety; recognising the need to work from a trauma informed perspective, proactively engaging parents through motivational interviewing and specialist intervention.

The team
WFS brings together domestic abuse survivor practitioners from Women’s Aid, domestic abuse perpetrator practitioners and substance use recovery workers from Cranstoun, and emotional health and wellbeing practitioners from Worcestershire Children First, in a co-located service offering countywide support, managed by a qualified children’s social work team manager, and supported by a dedicated Business Support Officer.

The role
We are recruiting an Emotional Health and Well-Being Practitioner to work within the Worcestershire Family Safeguarding Service providing evidence-based mental health and psychological interventions to adults. This will predominately be based around Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to promote emotional health and well-being. 

The post-holder will work in partnership with social workers to promote the welfare of children and young people with a clear remit of keeping families together where safe and appropriate to do so.
