As well as being given 20% off the job training to allow you to complete your apprenticeship within your working hours, you�ll be supported by your line manager, skills coach and the service management community, as well as fellow apprentices on the programme, so you will have plenty of sources of encouragement to help you succeed. There�s a lot to learn and do, so you need to be ready to be proactive, work hard and participate in the many opportunities you�ll be given to showcase your skills.

As part of the role, some travel to the other digital hubs may be required.

Job description

A service manager will undertake a range of key service management duties including reporting, incident management, change and problem management, and management of services to agreed targets and work closely with Operations across all levels, driving increased service quality and improved customer service satisfaction.

As an apprentice Service Manager, you will be assigned to one of the following areas:

Fraud or Debt Live Support teams � you will be supporting IT services used by Counter Fraud Compliance & Debt, which is currently the largest business directorate impacting the DWP Live estate across all service lines (approx. 9,000 staff). You will provide support to other members of the Counter Fraud & Debt Management Team and help ensure the quality and availability of the critical Digital products and services that the department depends on.Data & Analytics - offers a comprehensive perspective on IT Services, encompassing two key areas: Service Operations & Service Excellence. The team oversee 18 services and continue to grow. Their responsibilities span a wide range of critical functions, including but not limited to, managing Technical Debt, Incident, Change and Problem Management, Service Performance, Supportability, Security, Compliance, Usability, and Recoverability.

To be eligible for the apprenticeship you are required to hold the following minimum eligibility criteria:

Hold a valid passport/birth certificate or residence permitHave the right to live and work in the UKMust have lived in the UK and/or EEA for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date or hold refugee statusNot be in full-time education or be undertaking another apprenticeship by the apprenticeship start dateYou must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subjectYou must hold GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above or complete and pass a functional skills tests

Salary Information

The Regional Pay for this role is �29,500.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.
