You will predominantly be based at Riverside Lowestoft, but consideration will be given to flexible working. This is a unique role supporting the delivery of occupational therapy in Waveney, working with key stakeholders to promote a high-performance Occupational Therapy culture within the area teams that is flexible, innovative, responsive to changing priorities and empowers people to deliver excellence, best value and continuous improvement for the people of Suffolk

Your role and responsibilities

To support the Team Managers in the Leadership and management of the area teams Occupational Therapists, ensuring effective operations in planning, programme development, human resources and staff development, and financial oversight. 

Supervise and support Occupational Therapy staff in their day-to-day work, overseeing and supporting the prioritisation of waiting lists, demand and risk. 

Ensure Occupational Therapy staff are fully engaged with systems transformation, working effectively with the system transformation team to ensure that all system changes, information, technology and digital are implemented and embedded.

Working with Service Development and Contracts colleagues in the management of equipment contracts to ensure value for money, efficiency and quality. 

To be the Occupational Therapy practice lead for the area teams, building trust and developing shared priorities with the Team Manager and the wider Management team, partners and stakeholders, to ensure the delivery of user-focussed, integrated, locality-based services for vulnerable adults.

To manage, support and guide on Occupational Therapy related spend in Team Budgets which could include minor adaptation, equipment direct payments, digital care.

Supervise, develop, and empower Occupational Therapy staff to ensure high standards of staff engagement for your service area, including coordinating Occupational Therapy CPD, meetings and peer support sessions as appropriate in the area. 

Lead on programmes of work to support the delivery of the area savings plan ensuring compliance with existing controls and governance to track financial performance.

Provide oversight and approval of minor adaptations, special equipment and urgent next day equipment deliveries. You will also be required to work with Norfolk and Waveney special equipment panel and support colleagues with DFG adaptation planning and application. 

You will need

Occupational Therapy qualification (diploma/degree). current and valid registration with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) evidence of Continued Professional Development. demonstrable relevant post qualifying experience (minimum 2 years).

The team

will support Waveney as a whole, providing support to both the Lowestoft and South Waveney Area Teams. It is a varied role with both teams covering urban and rural locations. Waveney is also supported by the FCST in which you will be part of, the team covers a variety of work including Continuing Health Care, Safeguarding and Mental Health FCST is a busy but efficient team responding to priority tasks as and when required. The person in this role will also work closely with all team OT's, including Home First and the Independence and Well-being service Waveney has a positive culture, is supportive, encouraging and encompasses positive values to ensure we work as one team to support those most vulnerable in our area  we offer continued professional development with system wide learning events, workshops and regular training Flexible Care and Support Team is a hardworking, inclusive team with a supportive management structure, the team consist of Social Workers, Independence and Well-Being Practitioners, a Safeguarding Senior Practitioner and allocations lead.
