About the role

Looking for a challenging but rewarding role? 

Caring for a friend or family member who has difficulties with their mental health can be a lonely and isolating experience. Mental Health family carers or ‘unpaid’ carers often find that their own health and wellbeing is impacted by the support and care they are providing. 

Working as part of a small but close-knit team across Suffolk as a Mental Health Family Carer Adviser you would be:

offering support to adults who are caring for an adult friend or family member who has difficulties with their mental health helping them to increase their knowledge, their support networks and develop ways to cope with their caring role and its impact working on a one-to-one and sometimes group basis with adults caring for adults to offer information, support and guidance helping individuals with unpaid caring roles to consider their own needs and explore potential solutions.

About you

As a Mental Health Family Carer Adviser you will:

be passionate about helping family carers feel supported, acknowledged and championed have an excellent understanding of the mental health continuum and how poor mental health impacts not only the individual but those around them be able to work in a creative, yet boundaried way and will be experienced at using goal setting approaches with individuals have an awareness of local services and resources is also essential as it will be pivotal to helping family carers understand what is available and what might be helpful to them.

This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will be carried out following acceptance of any offer made to the successful candidate
