Your role: 

To support an outdoor loving 9-year-old child in their home and going out.

About the role:

I am an outgoing and fun child loving who enjoys going outside to build dens, metal detecting and going out for walks. My family is very important to me, and I enjoy doing fun things with them. Marvel, Fortnite, Minecraft and Roblox are my favourite. I love doing arts and crafts and really enjoy going swimming. I enjoy going to the zoo and my favourite animal are the giraffes.

I am looking for a support worker to help me build and develop my social skills and to be more independent. You must be able to drive and have access to a car so we can do days out.

You will be friendly and respectful, have experience with Autism and ADHD, have knowledge or experience in the use PECS and Makaton would be beneficial, be a good listener and have good communication skills.

General duties and responsibilities will include:

Personal care needed for toileting and changing of sanitary products Assistance with changing when going swimming, etc. Support when going out in the community and with social interactions Support and develop road awareness Encouraging me to be independent and develop my confidence.

Person specification: 

Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable for the post.

Essential:  

Positive and encouraging attitude Good time keeping Calm in difficult situations Quick thinking.

Desirable:

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle Experience with autism, ADHD and moderate learning disabilities Competent and able to use PECS/Makaton Able to motivate using humour.

Summary terms and conditions:

The rate of pay for this position 12.55 per hour 4 hours alternative Saturdays or Sundays and 1-2 6-hour days per week during school holidays The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement)

The post is subject to the following:

A satisfactory enhanced DBS check is required for this position if successful
