Leeds, United Kingdom Department of Health and Social Care Full time

Job summary

In DHSC, we are proud of our purpose to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment youd like to work in, wed love to hear from you.

The Office of the Chief Analyst is a team which works at the centre of the departments analytical community. We are passionate about creating a thriving community, leading on the resourcing and development of our analysts.

Our department is strongly committed to basing our policy process and decision making on the best possible evidence, and to do that it is important that we have the right analysts working in the right areas and at the right time.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Support and Recruitment Officer to join the Office of the Chief Analyst within the Analytical Recruitment Team to help provide the essential support to help resource the analytical community in the Department of Health and Social Care.

The role would include working within a small and friendly multi disciplined team made up of a range of professions who strive to provide a government leading recruitment service to our 400+ stakeholders.

Although the post is in a central analytical team, led by the Head of Analysis, the role does not require an analyst and would suit those who already work in recruitment, HR or operational delivery. Whilst being experienced in these areas is not critical, it important to be organised, have strong people skills, an interest in the role and a passion to develop.

The post provides opportunities to build strong working relationships at all levels including Senior Civil Servants, and to be visible within the analytical community.

Job description

The purpose of this role is to support the analyst recruitment team to deliver an effective and efficient service across our analytical community. You will play a significant role in the oversight of the analytical community which will require you to have excellent communication skills and a professional and friendly demeanour.

Typical activities range from large scale resourcing exercises such as our annual managed moves process where analysts rotations are coordinated around the department to tailored guidance for managers on the best way to fill their vacancies. You will ensure that our recruitment principles and policies are followed and act as the first point of contact for new requests.

There will be an expectation to support colleagues in the wider team which will give opportunities to develop and understand wider analytical priorities.Whilst this role does sit in HR directly it does involve numerous people related queries and a need to balance what works for all involved. The post is a great place to be visible, to develop and implement people focused procedures and plans and to develop your skills.

Person specification

The work is varied and you will need to be:

Efficient, diligent and organised as you will be managing the team mailboxes ensuring dissemination to key stakeholders.Ensuring that team is fully informed on all matters arising from the shared mailboxes and decisions requested where necessary.Supporting arrangements for analysts moving between our department and other organisations.Building knowledge over time, become an expert in the subject of analyst recruitment and accreditation in DHSC.Supporting with presentations and/or training for the community.Developing our processes for tracking where our circa 400 analysts currently work and supporting systems to keep in touch with analysts out on secondment, career break or maternity leave.Using ways of working to add value to the process of allocating new staff to the highest priority areas in a fair way and to support organised career moves.Working across the teams remit and contribute to other business within the wider team with the support of your line manager.

The team you will work in is very supportive and we pride ourselves on the care and support we show to our colleagues.

Key skills and experience required for the role:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to a range of stakeholders with a professional and friendly approach.

Highly organised and able to work at pace whilst delivering work efficiently and to a high standard, with a keen attention to detail.

Highly effective in time management and prioritisation skills in order to manage multiple deadlines.

Resilient and adaptable with the ability to work independently and within a team.

Proficient with Microsoft office applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Whilst not essential to the role previous experience in recruitment, HR or face paced operational delivery would be beneficial.
