The Role and the Department
The International Office is responsible for:
- The recruitment of international students to all areas of the university to meet institutional targets
- Supporting and managing the development of international partnerships to raise the University's global profile and to support academic colleagues in developing international links and collaborations
- Managing the university's student mobility programmes to meet the University's strategic objectives and in particular to widen access to global opportunities.
As a member of the Global Opportunities Team, this role supports the delivery of the University's Global Strategy and achievement of relevant key performance indicators through the development, promotion and efficient administration of international student mobility programmes (incl Turing).The International Coordinator is part of a small and busy team delivering the University's international exchange and study abroad objectives. Their specific responsibilities will be to support the administration of outgoing student exchanges with partner universities including the payment of Turing grants to eligible students and support for the development of key University partnerships. In addition, it is expected that the postholder will retain responsibility for supporting the wider range of activities in which the team is involved including work in support of our incoming fee-paying study abroad programme, as required.
The International Office currently operates on a hybrid working basis.

Essential Criteria
Qualifications/Experience
1. Five GCSE's at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
2. Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services to a high standard.
3. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality.
4. Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
5. Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
6. Strong digital competence across a range digital devices and apps including digital communication tools and Microsoft 365 applications (such as Microsoft Office and the ability to manage complex spreadsheets and formulas using Microsoft Excel).
7. Ability to solve problems yourself and as part of a team and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions.
8. Committed to continuing professional development.
9. Ability to participate in networks to share and discuss good practice and exchange information.
10. An awareness of cultural sensitivities/differences and ability to deal with situations with sensitivity and tact.
Desirable Criteria
11. Experience of web editing and writing for the web.
12. Experience of Banner and ODBC reporting tools.
13. Experience of financial management/purchasing systems e.g. Oracle
14. Experience of working in a marketing, customer services or higher education environment.
15. Experience of living or studying abroad.
