Senior Social Worker

Greenock, United Kingdom Inverclyde Council Full time

Job Description

Senior Social Worker REF: HSCP/

Salary: Grade 10 - £48, - £51,

Location: Hector McNeil House

Hours: 37 hours per week

Located within Inverclyde HSCP, the Justice Social Work team provides statutory justice social work services to residents of Inverclyde, one of Scotland’s smallest local authority areas. The service benefits from having both HMP Greenock and Greenock Sheriff Court within its boundaries offering staff opportunities to experience both prison and court- based justice social work practice alongside opportunities to work with a full range of community-based disposals. The service also maintains strong links to our established Community Justice Partnership which is working to address offending and re-offending across the Inverclyde community. While this post is primarily based in the community at present, the small size of the team means that a willingness and ability to work flexibly across varying settings and physical locations is essential.

The successful applicant for this role will be expected to hold full line management responsibilities for both qualified social work and paraprofessional staff, including providing supervision, guidance and quality assurance of work. They will form part of the management team for the service alongside other Senior Social Workers and will be asked to assume responsibility for specified areas of operational service delivery; practice development and training and strategic planning and development. A degree of weekend working is required to support the delivery of unpaid work services.
