Successful Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF) scheme applicants can apply to extend their fellowship by up to a further three years.

You can apply for up to £567,000 of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funding (80% FEC for academic hosts). In years five and six, UKRI funds up to 50% of the full economic cost (FEC) of the fellow’s salary. This is awarded at 80% FEC, (UKRI contribution is 40% overall). For year seven, UKRI funds up to 25% of the full economic cost of the fellow’s salary. This is awarded at 80% FEC (UKRI contribution is 20% overall). For business fellowships, the host contribution will be in line with Subsidy Control rules.

You can only apply for this funding opportunity if you are an existing Future Leaders Fellow (FLF) and have received an invite link to apply if you are eligible. If you haven’t received a link but think you are eligible, please contact the team (see ‘Contact details’ section).

Successful applicants to the FLF scheme have the opportunity to extend their four-year fellowship by up to a further three years. The renewal funding will continue to support the development of a leading-edge fellow and further the fellow’s work to undertake adventurous, ambitious programmes that tackle difficult and novel challenges.

There will be three renewal panel meetings per year, and fellows are required to apply to the meeting that aligns with their end dates. See the for full details.
