This is a great opportunity to join Suffolk County Council's Behaviour Change Team as a Cycling Instructor and Walk Leader on our Active Travel Social Prescribing Pilot (ATSPP). You’ll be working mainly with communities in Ipswich or Lowestoft, with the occasional opportunity to travel more widely in Suffolk.

If you love cycling and walking and enjoy making a positive impact on people’s lives, then this is the role for you

Your role and responsibilities

This project specifically looks to support people to become more active, particularly those who are currently inactive or starting from a very low level.

You'll be trained to become a British Cycling ride leader on a one day course funded by Suffolk County Council. You will also be required to undertake a (fully funded) first aid course if you don’t have a current qualification.

In this role you will be required to adhere to road safety law as you do in your daily life. You should be able to plan and organise courses and be able to demonstrate reliability and efficient timekeeping. Experience of cycling on the highway is required. You will be based in either Ipswich or Lowestoft, although travel throughout Suffolk (for which mileage expenses may be claimed in line with Suffolk County Council’s policy) may occasionally be required and you must be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
