This funding opportunity is open to researchers from the UK and Canada to collaborate on:

  • quantum sensors and detectors for fundamental and applied science
  • quantum communications including ground and space-based applications

The full economic cost (FEC) of the UK component of your project can be up to £500,000 and the FEC of the Canadian component up to CAD $500,000.

Applications will have a UK project lead based at a research organisation eligible to receive STFC funding and a Canadian lead based at an organisation eligible to receive NSERC funding.

Who is eligible to apply

The proposal must be submitted by a researcher, the project lead (PL) who is an employee of a research organisation that is eligible to receive UKRI grants. Only academic partners may request funding.

To be named as a PL on a grant submitted to this funding opportunity you must be an academic member of staff (lecturers or equivalent) or hold a fellowship, such as an STFC or Royal Society Fellowship, won through open competition.
