Teignbridge is currently reviewing the Finance Service, implementing a new finance system and wider Microsoft 365 tools as part of a wider change programme in the Council.

We have an exciting opportunity for two Accounting Technicians to come and join us for 12 months.

These two roles will work with a Finance Business Partner in supporting departments with budget preparation, forecast year-end monitoring, year-end activity along with financial analysis. In addition, to conventional budget manager support there will opportunities to experience some transformation activities in costing change programmes and expected benefits but also developing financial models to support service reviews. Thus, this an ideal steeping stone in your finance career to broaden or build on your experience for future roles. 

Whilst the job description is career graded we are looking to recruit at the AAT qualified or CCAB part-qualified level (Grade 16A or 20). This is where the level of work has been assessed working in partnership with a Finance Business Partner and on your own initiative supporting our more complex departments.

You will be responsible for ensuring that accurate financial records are maintained, whilst always understanding the requirement of security and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will have:

Maths and English GCSE pass C and above (or equivalent). Relevant IT Skills and experience of using Microsoft 365 and Finance Systems. Worked in an office environment and have experience of accountancy duties, working directly with Budget Managers Good numeracy and spreadsheet skills to be able to extract, manipulate, analyse and report financial information. Excellent communication skills. You can explain just about anything to anyone and are comfortable with verbal and written communication. Experience in working as part of a team and be self-motivated to work on own initiative, with the ability to prioritise tasks. Inquisitive and open to change and developing new skills. Have obtained the following stage in their career:
 

You might have:

An understanding of relevant legislation. Skills in creative thinking and problem solving. Experience of working within the Local Government Sector. Grade Qualification Experience Operational level 16A
