The Client
Our client are a Fire & Security business who have been operating for over 25 years', they manage 1000's of properties on responsive repair contracts for our customers which include Social Landlords, Local Councils, NHS Health Trusts, Train Operating Companies, Schools and Colleges, Fire and Rescue Services as well as retailers, catering companies. They are looking to add an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to their team.
The Role of Fire & Security Engineer
- Servicing of planned maintenance, Reactive & Remedial Calls across the customer base in line with the current British Standards and current legislation.
- Effectively communicate with the customer the details of their Service / Fault / Remedial visit advising of the outcome and any additional works required.
- To promote the company values at all times.
- To act as an ambassador for the company at all times, demonstrating and upholding a professional manner at all times.
The Person
- Extensive experience of Delivering Service Related Activities (Maintenance, Call Outs & Remedial Works across Fire, Security & associated disciplines.
- A systematic approach to solving complex problems.
- Strong attention to detail and able to identify errors swiftly.
- Highly effective verbal/written communication.
- A professional and high level of interpersonal skills at all levels.
- Able to deal with all members of staff, clients and suppliers in a professional manner.
- Proven experience in the industry along with a track record to demonstrate competence is essential when applying.
- Understanding of the British Standards (I.E BS5839, SP203, SSAIB).
- Able to work under pressure and prioritise workloads, maintaining excellent levels of customer service at all times.
- Ability to work well on your own or as part of a team.
Normal Working Hours
- Monday – Friday: Minute Lunch Break)
Overtime Rates
- Monday – Friday: 17: Paid at Time & Half
- Monday – Friday: 00.00 – 08.30 Paid at Double Time
- Saturday – Time/Half to mid-day, double time thereafter
- Sunday – Double time
- Bank Holidays on call – Double time and a day back in lieu
- Travel time during overtime is paid at single rate

Travel
First 30 minutes each way unpaid, flat rate paid as overtime thereafter
On Call Rota
Standby Fee £20 per shift
Travel is paid door to door when participating in the on-call rota
Rest Time – Hours passed mid-night but also following H&S guidance
Company Van & Fuel Card
Private mileage is charged at 18p per mile for the first 100 miles, 28p per mile thereafter
