Job Description SummaryAs the Leader of the Project Engineering function, you will be responsible for managing the team of Project Engineering Managers within the GSI North Europe Region and ensuring that the turnkey Projects undertaken are delivered safely, to the expected level of quality, on-time and to budget.
This is to be achieved by ensuring that your team have the skills and knowledge needed to coordinate the technical activities on the project, and that they undertake the procedures and processes that are required to deliver successful outcomes.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will;

  • Directly manage the team of Project Engineering Managers, who are tasked with delivering the portfolio of projects being undertaken by the GSI North Europe Region and ensure that they are taking all the necessary actions to guarantee successful outcomes for both GE and its Customers.
  • Ensure that safety is the number one priority for the Project Engineering Managers and all members of the Project Design Team, and that the Safety by Design processes are used to deliver hazard free designs.
  • Ensure that design quality is maintained in all areas of the project, and the processes for verification and validation are followed by all members of the Project Design Team. Where poor quality is seen, lead the team to investigate and implement measures to avoid a reoccurrence.
  • Ensure that all delivery commitments made by the Project Design Team are honoured, and the design work is delivered on-time. This will include having the right resources in place at the right time.
  • Ensure that the engineering work on the projects is completed to the budget agreed at the tender stage and all variations, both internal and external, are quickly identified and managed in the appropriate manner.
  • Ensuring a strong engineering performance on each of the projects which will be reflected in the engineering Key Performance Indicators.
  • When problems a rise, provide the necessary leadership to ensure that they are resolved quickly and with the minimum impact to the project.
  • Continually identify process gaps and take the necessary actions to introduce new working methods to close them.
  • In addition to the project delivery responsibilities, provide the necessary support to the tender team, including defining the engineering delivery strategy, and the capitalisation of lessons learned.
  • Work with the other functional leaders and stakeholders for the common good of the project and ensure strong communications between all members of the Project delivery team.
  • Act as the technical interface with our Customers for all Engineering matters not directly related to specific projects.
  • Identify and take the necessary actions to develop the team in both technical and behavioural competences to improve individual and collective performance.

Required Qualifications

  • To undertake this role, you will have a first degree or higher in Electrical or Power Engineering and have experience in an electrical engineering business. You will also have significant experience of leading Engineering teams and be accustomed to working in a dynamic project delivery environment.
