The role
GlobalData is a leading market analysis and consulting firm in the UK, and we are looking for a Senior Economist to join LMC (a global data company) to work within the Biofuels & Chemicals team, based in the Oxford Office. A passion for biofuels is essential, together with prior relevant experience. We work with many of the world s leading producers, consumers and those in the financial sector to help them maximise success through developing a thorough understanding of the sector and its likely future performance. Our client base is diverse ranging from biofuel producers to oil majors and policy makers.
Key responsibilities:
Produce high quality reports and presentations analysing the dynamics of global biofuels and their interaction with raw material markets. This will involve an analysis of supply/demand, pricing, costs, policy and sustainability. Topics covered include Ethanol, Biodiesel, Renewable Diesel, Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Marine Biofuels, Glycerine and Waste Oils.
Take responsibility for small pieces of consulting work with support from the Team Leader.
Develop forecasting tools and build economic and financial models.
Help maintain and develop the team s extensive databases.
Develop a network of external contacts for the purpose of research and represent the company at international conferences.
Travel for the purpose of research and meeting clients, helping to develop and nurture our client base.
Contribute to and coordinate work on biofuels under the direction of the Team Leader, take personal responsibility for their completion and ensure deadlines are met.
Support preparation of proposals for studies.
Role requirements:
A good economics/science/ engineering degree from a leading University.
A higher degree in a relevant subject
Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Excellent spoken and written English.
Competent in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
3-5 years of relevant work experience in biofuels/renewable energy or related agricultural processing industry.
An enthusiasm and willingness to develop an understanding of LMC s biofuels work and upstream agricultural markets
Strong analytical skills and a high degree of numeracy
Initiative, organisational skills, tenacity and excellent attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
An awareness of commercial constraints/opportunities in the biofuels industry
The ability to work independently and in teams
The ability to work under pressure, on multiple projects to tight deadlines.
Strong computer skills, and ability working with databases
A demonstrable interest in biofuels
