Swindon, Swindon, United Kingdom The National Trust Full time
Project Manager - Swindon

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to support the transformation of the grants process so that it is fit for the future.
This is an exciting time to join the Fundraising team as we are seeing growth across all our income streams. Grants is no different and indeed the most recent financial year saw a record-breaking performance in grants awarded. Grants support all aspects of the National Trust's strategy and we are anticipating continued growth and complexity in grant-supported work.
We recently undertook a review of the grants process and established that it was not fit for purpose. Whilst it is not fundamentally broken, there are many issues with it and the review has recommended a range of actions to address the issues.
We need a Project Manager to oversee this work. You will work with colleagues throughout the organisation to enable the improvements to be made. This is a permanent contract, with the contractual location being our central office in Swindon though most of the work can be done remotely.
We anticipate there being further initiatives that will need to be managed over the coming years (for example, a project to support the 30th anniversary of the National Lottery – a key provider of grants for the Trust's work).

What it's like to work here

We're bigger than you think, we're more complicated than we appear and we're larger scale than you'd imagine.
The Trust is an exciting, diverse and vibrant place to work, and looks after some of the country's most beautiful and interesting places, bringing to life our work, and the properties in our care.
We've got passionate people in all our teams, and we've got so much more we want to achieve. We're for ever, for everyone and we really mean that.
Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

Your primary role will be to oversee the implementation of recommendations to improve the grants process, working closely with the project sponsor and clients to plan and manage the project, ensure that work is completed on time and to the necessary standard, and ensuring that all internal communications are handled effectively.
You will also undertake other project management roles within the Grants team, for example supporting the National Lottery 30th year anniversary, and enabling us to meet open licence requirements.
You'll be able to draw on the skills and talents of other staff who are specialists in every field of our work, in particular Finance, Conservation, Legal and the Project Management Office.

Who we're looking for

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role. We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• A solid track record of successful project delivery – delivering projects to scope, time, and quality, including the related financial management
• An understanding of project management principles and practice – including project management lifecycles, processes, practices and governance requirements
• Knowledge of specialisms in grants and finance
• Strong stakeholder management skills – ability to support teams to deliver project objectives and work with a wide range of people across multiple roles, job areas, and levels of seniority
• Knowledge of communications processes – co-ordinating and managing communications activity for the project

The package

The National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It's important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
