About the role

The position is a lab-based role, requiring excellent laboratory skills, particularly on molecular and cell biology techniques. The position is a lab-based role, requiring excellent laboratory skills, particularly in cell biology/assay techniques. Additionally, we are looking for experience with creating and analysing '-omic' datasets, practical experience of bioinformatic techniques and basic coding skills would be advantageous.

Who you'll work with

The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on the discovery and validation of novel drug targets for diseases with high unmet patient need.

What you'll do

  • Studying immunological disease pathways and biology, to generate novel insights into potential therapeutic opportunities in areas of unmet need.
  • Setting up new and running new collaborations with state-of the-art researchers on auto-immune relevant biological pathways and disease models with the aim of identifying new disease-drug target links.
  • Performing drug tractability and validation experiments, such as Gain of Function /Loss of Function assays, cell culture, flow cytometry, imaging, and other techniques. Generating and critically assessing data to support go/no-go new target decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of the technological and scientific acumen of the department, helping to enhance our target to disease translational insights, implementing novel technologies, improving workflows and robust scientific discussion
  • Present data and insights across the organization and externally
  • Work in a collaborative, matrix style right across the organisation to implement the adoption of new targets into the research portfolio.
  • Produce detailed experimental write-ups and assist in producing and collating procedures, guidelines and reports.

Interested? For this role we're looking for the following education, experience and skills

  • Educated to degree level with industry experience, PhD desirable.
  • Experience in a range of cellular and molecular biology techniques – for example: cell culture, flow cytometry, high content imaging, ELISA or MSD, Western blotting, qPCR, cloning, transfection/siRNA/CRISPR gene-editing.
  • Experience with bioinformatic tools for analysing large NGS/'omic' datasets and basic coding skills
  • Good communication skills and comfortable presenting experimental data at cross-functional meetings.
  • Knowledge of coding is advantageous.
  • Experience with use of bioinformatic tools to visualise and curate from large datasets.
  • Ability to work within a team in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Highly motivated and driven to exceed goals.
