The Senior Product Manager role is an new role to become the business owner of the new Opticians practice management system - A3, a SaaS (Software as a Service) product.

This role is an important business role building relationships with functional SMEs, the business backlog and development linked into the 3-year plan, and own the relationship with our 3rd party supplier.

This role involved managing stakeholders at different levels of the business along with cultivating critical relationships with IT.

About the role

You will sit within the Optical Development and Delivery team.

As part of the Stardust project, the role will report into the Head of Programme for the duration of the programme.

During the programme, the role will support the SMEs to test the functionality of the system and support with migration activity.


The main roles and responsibilities are:

  • Develop, manage and report on the detailed business requirements/user story plan to inform each release
  • Develop and lead a best in class UAT approach to future A3 releases
  • The technical owner of the DCR (Digital Clinical Record)
  • Support the agile methodology approach supporting business integration through SMEs of Ocuco Sprint activities
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with Ocuco, the OLT and important internal and external IT and business partners
  • Ensure that A3 is strongly aligned to other opticians and wider Boots UK programmes and BAU developments
  • Lead the strategic roadmap activity between the business and Ocuco to ensure alignment to objectives and lead the change process for any future Boots Opticians specific system requests.
  • Leverage the relationship with Ocuco to realise the technology opportunities with other key business initiatives
What you'll need to have

  • A strong understanding of the Opticians business, the functions and their interaction with the A3 PMS
  • Working with senior stakeholders to align the PMS roadmap to the strategy and future activities
  • Influence at a senior level both internally and externally
  • You will have experience delivering large-scale IT strategic change projects and will have knowledge of store and support office ways of working
  • Excellent project leadership Experience communicating project updates, milestones, and progress to internal and external partners and the ability to work cross-functionally to demanding timescales
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Project and PowerPoint
