Philanthropy Officer

Manchester, United Kingdom The University of Manchester Full time

Right now is Manchester's time to shine. We are preparing to launch our first ever major fundraising and volunteering campaign, and will be marking our bicentenary in 2024.

At Manchester we don't just focus on what we're good at. We ask what we're good for.

Through our teaching we are educating a new kind of socially responsible graduate – tomorrow's thinkers, doers and leaders. Our research community is addressing the most pressing global challenges with bold and brilliant solutions. And through innovation, we are turning ideas into reality, creating the jobs and industries which will sustain us in the future. Rooted in the heart of the city and extending far beyond, we are breaking down barriers to art, science and learning in order to build stronger, more resilient communities.

As Philanthropy Officer, you will play a key role in growing philanthropic income in support of the University's key fundraising priorities, across Student Access & Success, Research Breakthroughs and Innovation. The gifts you secure will enable life-changing social mobility and revolutionise the higher education sector's approach to widening participation; support early career researchers to unlock a new generation of firsts in research; and provide translational funding to unlock the commercial potential of our most innovative research ideas.

Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, you will be a key relationship manager at University-wide level, building relationships with prospective donors and actively developing and leading gift proposals.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to work within a friendly, values-driven, and high-performing Division. It's full of people who care about what we do. Not only do we share the values of integrity, being bold, being ambitious, and being collaborative, we also share a pioneering spirit and the courage to make a difference. If you have a fearless personality, boundless optimism, and a desire to create a healthier, fairer and more sustainable world, we'd love you to get in touch.

Exciting? We think so too.

Please note that we are recruiting for four roles: two permanent and two fixed-term for 12 months.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 9th July and Tuesday 16th July 2024.

We are working in partnership with Execucare on these appointments. Execucare are a specialist fundraising recruitment agency, who have helped to place a number of colleagues within the Division of Development and Alumni Relations. To aid with our shortlisting, information you provide as part of your application may be shared with Execucare. Your information will be used by Execucare solely for the purpose of assisting the University in recruiting to these specific roles, and will be deleted by Execucare once this recruitment process is completed.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
