Role Summary

As a Fundraising Officer, you will collaborate with a team to cultivate and strengthen community relationships with volunteers, donors, partners, and local communities to optimize fundraising efforts. Reporting directly to the Regional Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, you will oversee the complete process of maximizing donation income, including research, relationship building, solicitation, and donor stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador at events, promoting READ Foundation's vision and maintaining the charity's reputation.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with high-net-worth individuals and potential donors to enhance contributions.
  • Encourage philanthropic engagement and initiatives to ensure the organization maximizes fundraising opportunities.
  • Organize and manage fundraising events and dinners, while overseeing and training volunteers.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Regional Head of Fundraising to assess progress towards established targets and objectives.
  • Adhere to the Institute of Fundraising best practices and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Foster a creative and innovative work environment, identifying new fundraising opportunities.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols.
  • Enhance the capacity of the READ Foundation team in major donor and community fundraising.
  • Identify and secure new prospects through networking and sector exploration.
  • Build, nurture, and manage volunteer teams across the region to support fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain effective relationships to ensure excellent donor stewardship.
  • Collaborate with broader fundraising networks to discover engagement opportunities.
  • Coordinate and oversee fundraising events.
  • Support and manage volunteers.
  • Serve as a primary contact for volunteer inquiries and support requests in the North region.
  • Facilitate volunteer requests from internal departments, particularly Fundraising and UK Programmes.
  • Supervise and mentor volunteers and interns, enhancing their skills and promoting a positive environment.
  • Expand READ Foundation's volunteer database in the North region, promoting opportunities and processing sign-up requests.
  • Recruit interns for various departments to provide additional support, including preparing role profiles and conducting interviews.
  • Prepare resources for volunteer activities, such as collection buckets and merchandise.
  • Design and implement local volunteering projects to increase public engagement with READ Foundation.
  • Explore innovative ideas to enhance the effectiveness of the volunteering program.
  • Perform various administrative tasks to support the Volunteers Management team and People and Culture department.
  • Occasional travel may be required for donor engagement and deployments.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the Regional Head of Fundraising.
