Processing purchase ledger and expenses transactions

Provide assistance to the Finance team in a variety of Finance activities.

  • Processing staff expenses claimed ensuring they are accurate and in line with our staff expenses policy.
  • Process purchase ledger invoices accurately and efficiently. Ensuring coding procedures are followed.
  • Regularly reconcile supplier accounts to statements and resolve any queries in a timely manner.
  • Processing and reconciling petty cash returns.
  • Assisting with telephone and email queries to the Finance department.
  • Provide support to other finance colleagues as required.
  • Other reasonable tasks as directed by the Finance Manager to ensure the effective running of the finance department.
  • Ensuring that you adhere to all company policies and procedures and codes of conduct.

  • GCSE English Literature or Language and Maths grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • Working experience in a Finance team, ideally including one or more of purchase ledger, payroll support or expenses processing.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their ethnic, cultural, social backgrounds, their gender, age, religious belief, disability, and sexual orientation.
  • Some understanding of the legal requirements relating to Data Protection.
  • IT Skills including Microsoft Excel and working with accounting software.
  • A good understanding of the importance of timely and accurate information regarding financial matters and that personal/ Client data is handled in the strictest of confidence.
  • Previous experience of working in the Charity sector.
  • Experience of working in a role requiring confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to build and develop relationships with internal staff, client organisations, strategic partners and other external parties/ organisations.
  • Excellent written, numerical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Good face to face and telephone communication skills and able to demonstrate empathy whilst meeting Organisation objectives.
  • Demonstrable report writing abilities.
  • Works to understand clients, employee and employer's needs.
  • Strives to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to demonstrate contribution to maximising commercial performance through controlling costs and ensuring efficiencies where possible.
