The People Team encompasses the HR, Volunteering and Learning and Development functions. This role will be responsible for the recruitment of Volunteers and paid staff, using innovative and creative approaches to recruit across all areas of the Hospice. The focus of this role will be on the recruitment of volunteers who are the back bone of the Hospice, but the role will also include recruiting for paid clinical and non-clinical teams. Non-clinical teams include fundraising, marketing, finance, and retail.

The role will require attendance at recruitment and volunteer events so a driving licence will be required. Some of these events will be at weekends/evenings so flexibility in terms of working hours is essential.

This role reports directly to the People Director, who will set the Strategy for recruitment and support with relationships with external partners, including corporates, to support our Volunteer and Staff recruitment events.

We are seeking an experienced recruiter (agency or in house) and/or substantial experience in recruitment.

The People Systems Team will provide System, Processes and Administration support for this role.

Location - Welwyn Garden City

Contract - Permanent | Part Time, 22.5hrs per week

Salary - £20k

Main Responsibilities

Develop plans to recruit volunteers at Isabel Hospice to meet organisational and departmental needs and to ensure that volunteers continue to make a key contribution to the ongoing growth and development of the Charity & Trading Companies.Consider current recruitment trends for paid staff and plan to ensure that joint recruitment opportunities for volunteer and employed staff are arranged to maximise overall applications to the hospice to meet the needs of all departments.Support with both Staff and Volunteer requirements. Day to Day OperationsWork with members of the People Team to maintain knowledge of current recruitment opportunities within the hospice for paid staff, using knowledge & experience to suggest ways in which to maximise applications to all vacant roles, for example using social media, job boards and any other opportunities to recruit.Support the Retail & People Events Lead with planned events aimed at recruitment of both paid staff and volunteers, focusing in on the hard to recruit areas for staff and volunteers - for example retail volunteers and clinical staff. Develop relationships with existing hospice partners. Research, contact and develop other avenues to improve the flow of volunteers and staff to the Hospice. Propose and develop new initiatives for recruitment including community and corporate groups, and continually maintain and develop contacts for this purpose.Work with the People Systems Administrator to monitor progress of volunteer applications and provide advice to managers where queries arise.Deal with Volunteer issues as they arise, investigating and taking appropriate action in conjunction with the relevant manager and working within requirements of the Equalities Act. Work with the People Systems Administrator to produce regular reports for People Director/Senior Leadership/Committees on volunteering uptake and progress.Work flexibly across all People areas of the department as required, assisting members of the Team with employee relations cases when requested, for example taking minutes at formal meetings and assisting with formal investigations for employed staff.Continually develop knowledge of volunteering and staff recruitment methods through networking with other hospices and contacts.Projects and PoliciesAs they arise within the People Department.Any Other dutiesThis is not an exhaustive list of duties and the postholder will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation, as deemed reasonable and requested by the postholder's line manager or CEO.The post will be subject to regular annual appraisal and review as part of the Personal Development Plan
