Job Description

At Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) our vision is to be the best bank for our customers. By putting customers first, keeping banking simple and making a difference together, we're helping Britain prosper.

Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) is an origination and coverage business operating across the UK and North America and is responsible for the overall management of businesses whose annual turnover exceeds ?100m.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Relationship Director to join our Power and Utilities team. With significant investments being made in renewable energy and the transition to net zero, this is an exciting time to join our team as we leverage our position as a core lender to the UK and leading Project Finance bank.

Power and Utilities form a key part of the UK's critical national infrastructure, generating clean power and delivering electricity, gas and water to homes and businesses nationwide via the regulated utility networks. Our clients have sustainability at the heart of their business models and are at the core of the drive to Net Zero.

You'll build stronger, deeper and more sustainable partner relationships with our Power and Utilities clients and help improve and increase the quality and quantity of the business to achieve business objectives for income generation whilst ensuring the effective management of risk and judicious deployment of our balance sheet. This senior leadership role is critical in harnessing these complex, high profile and potentially profitable relationships to best meet client needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of large UK and some multinational Power Generator and Integrated Utility clients to ensure consistent and high quality client coverage and product partner coordination, helping to drive ongoing client and product growth
  • Working with US and Europe based colleagues to helping drive targeted expansion, particularly in areas such as offshore wind
  • Meeting financial and non financial objectives set by CIC management including budgets, returns, RWA optimisation, assets, liabilities and efficient deployment of credit lines
  • Helping to drive the strategic direction of our industry coverage and leverage our client relationships to further LBG's sustainability objectives and aspirations with particular focus on meeting out Net Zero Banking Alliance commitments
  • Working across the Group to maximise client opportunities including with Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets, Retail, Insurance and Lex.
  • To coordinate and line manage Associate Directors, Associates, Graduates and Interns in the day to day tasks essential to support Power coverage

Crucial skills/ experience:

  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the business operates, and the relevant regulatory requirements
  • Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which we operate
  • the ability to interpret client financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures
  • Sector knowledge - a keen understanding of, and interest in, the Utilities industry and the Energy Transition would be very advantageous but is not a pre-requisite. Furthermore an understanding of the regulatory framework as well as the broader role of the industry in the energy and integrated utilities sphere would be useful. A keen interest in sustainability would also be noted.
  • Product/Procedural/Specialist Knowledge - A broad understanding of Coverage processes, broad knowledge of the wide variety of products appropriate to the sector and the ability to take the broader view for the benefit of the wider team, working collegiately across CIB and, where needed, internationally.

So what can we offer you in return?

You'll be rewarded with excellent benefits, personal development and a career that's enriching and full of opportunity

As well as a competitive salary, you'll receive:

  • A Discretionary Performance Share Award
  • Generous pension contribution
  • 30 days leave plus bank holidays
  • A flexible cash pot (4% of base salary) to spend on benefits
  • Private health cover
  • Share Schemes

We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit. We support the principles of agile working and are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.

We'll ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process and to perform crucial job functions.

Sound like you? Apply today, we'd love to hear from you..
