About the Role:

As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the charity, you will lead our organisation in the ongoing fight against food poverty within North London and Hertfordshire. You will provide strategic direction, ensure operational efficiency, reliable service delivery and spearhead fundraising efforts to expand our impact and reach even more individuals and families in need.

This role requires effective leadership of both staff and volunteers, along with the implementation of systems and processes to enhance our operations. You will need to balance day-to-day management with strategic planning, demonstrating adaptability and clear decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Key Details:

• Role: Chief Executive Officer –

• Salary: £90,000

• Contract: permanent, full-time role

• Start date: by early November 2024, ideally mid-October

• Location: typically 4+ days per week on-site at our hub in London N12 or with partner organisations

Key Responsibilities:

• Continue to develop and implement the long-term strategic vision for the charity, ensuring alignment with our mission and core values.

• Lead, manage and motivate the talented team of staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and high performance.

• Oversee all aspects of the organisation's operations, including Hub management, distribution networks and volunteer coordination.

• Lead fundraising / income generation / business development activities to ensure the charity's can grow and deliver more impact while remaining financially sustainable.

• Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as partners, funders, corporate partners, opinion-formers and thought-leaders in the fields of food poverty and nutrition, and partner charities.

• Represent the charity at public events, media opportunities and meetings with funders and supporters.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor and evaluate the organisation's performance, measuring success against key metrics and goals.

• Oversee financial management and resource allocation, ensuring efficient and responsible use of funds.

• Be visible in the Hub and build relationships with volunteers to ensure connected leadership and feedback can be easily given up the ladder, focusing on morale, recruitment, and retention.

• Work with the team and use analytical skills to deliver insights and improve systems, policies and processes.

• Be accountable for specific projects like launching new systems, volunteer retention, and developing corporate partnerships.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven track record of leadership and success – including fundraising / income generation - in the non-profit sector or corporate sector (minimum 5 years at a senior level).

• Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse audiences.

• Interest in and knowledge of the challenges and opportunities related to food poverty in the UK.

• Passion for and a commitment to the charity's mission.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong understanding of financial management principles.

• Ability to represent the organisation effectively in a variety of settings.
