Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom BBC Full time
ARE YOU :
  • Passionate about South Asian music and culture and an avid listener of BBC Asian Network?
  • Already creating your own podcasts, broadcasting radio shows, or curating and sharing playlists?
  • Proactive with a positive, 'can do' attitude and outlook?
DO YOU:
  • Want to dive into hands-on experiences across all areas at BBC Asian Network, from music teams and live radio shows to social media, visual content and commissioning?
  • Crave the opportunity to receive in-house training from BBC Asian Network and the prestigious BBC Academy?
  • Have the desire to share your creative ideas with programme teams across BBC Asian Network and the broader BBC family?
THEN OUR PLACEMENT IS FOR YOU

Our exciting 8-week paid placement offers a golden opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of BBC Asian Network. You'll get hands-on skills and experience working across our shows and departments, all at the heart of the action in our HQ in Birmingham. What will you do on this placement?

During your time at BBC Asian Network you will collaborate with multiple teams, spending blocks of time across various departments. This is an excellent opportunity to get a 360 view of what it's like to work at an award-winning national broadcaster.

You will have a mentor who will meet with you weekly to discuss your placement progress and future plans. We are a 24/7 station, so the hours across the placement will vary. We are committed to ensuring our trainees have a diverse experience and as much involvement as possible. Therefore, we seek individuals who are flexible and willing to work weekends or late nights. We will do our best to accommodate personal circumstances when designing the schedule.

The placement period will take place between: 7th October - 29th November 2024.

Are you the right candidate?

Are you excited about the role of new technology and social media in shaping our experiences and connecting with audiences? If you answered yes, we want YOU to be part of our team

What We're Looking For:
  • Music and Culture Enthusiast: You live and breathe music and are always in the know about the latest cultural happenings.

  • Diverse and Inclusive: We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and every corner of the UK.
What You Don't Need:

  • Media Career Starters Only: This opportunity is for those at the beginning of their career in the media. If you've already gained paid experience within the BBC, this placement isn't for you.
