About the role:

We are currently seeking a Construction Technician to join The Bedford College Group at our Corby Campus.

As a Technician you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Providing support and assistance to Lecturers and Trainers in workshop areas, focussed predominately painting and decorating, but will include elements of carpentry and joinery and brickwork
  • Maintaining workshop facilities and ensure serviceability and security of bench joinery machines, hand tools and equipment, and ensure Health and Safety requirements are met.

About you:

  • Experience of working in painting and decorating or the building trade in general
  • Willingness to work towards and achieve First Aid Qualification if not already held.
  • Willingness to work towards and achieve a fork lift licence.
  • Experience of working within the construction industry
  • Knowledge of safe working practices, particularly in connection with hand tools, machines and COSHH
  • Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to consistently support the provision of a high-quality learning experience for all students.
  • Self-motivated and can demonstrate having worked with a minimum of supervision
  • Able to maintain stock inventories and order materials and equipment.
  • Able to prepare, maintain and repair equipment and handtools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently face to face, on the telephone and in writing

About The Bedford College Group
The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
