Joining Midland Heart as a Trainee Risk and Assurance Officer you'll gain a range of professional qualifications and the hands-on industry experience required to firmly establish yourself as a Risk and Assurance professional.

You'll join our well-respected Assurance, Risk & Transactions team, gaining exposure to the full range of Risk and Assurance activities, including undertaking audits of our group's key controls, providing recommendations on risk investigation, assisting in counter fraud investigations, as well as supporting our emergency response planning and implementation.

Training Provided

You'll study over 36-42 months under a level 7 apprenticeship, building not only on your technical skills, but also on your personal and professional development. Training consists of a combination of lectures/workshops at Birmingham City University, private study and regular exams, as well as on-the-job training. We'll support you with paid study leave in the run up to exams and all course and exam fees are paid for by us.

In recognition of achieving key academic milestones and sustaining good performance in the role, you'll be rewarded through a salary increase during the training programme and on successful completion of the programme.

On successful completion of the programme, you'll also gain a range of industry recognised professional qualifications including: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification, Chartered Internal Auditor status (CMIIA) , an MSc in Internal Audit Management and Consultancy and a Level 7 apprenticeship.

Our ideal candidate? We're seeking a motivated individual who is passionate about developing an understanding of business assurance practices within a large organisation You'll also demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:
  • You'll already have obtained or be on course to achieve a degree.
  • You'll have some professional work experience that demonstrates your ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders, use Microsoft programmes particularly Excel, and complete tasks to a high standard within set deadlines.
  • You'll have excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement solutions and work with stakeholders to address the root cause of issues, all of which will be important to both your learning programme and future career success in risk and assurance
    To be considered for the role, you must hold valid Right to Work in the UK without restrictions for the duration of the training programme.
