We are willing to support anyone who is interested in working in Residential Child Care. That is providing you have lived in the UK for at least the last 3 years.

Prior to the application being processed, we invite you to join our 8 week Bootcamp, which will involve blended learning and work experience on the 8th week at our Residential Childrens Home.

We will also get you a funded Enhanced DBS check.

Job Duties involved:

  • To provide primary care and supervision to all the young people on a day to day basis.

Ensuring that all aspects of their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs are met as individuals and within the group setting.

Working as an appropriate role model to establish and maintain professional relationships with all the young people.
Contributing to and implementing the Company child care policy and practice guidelines.
Identify and effectively use the range of resources that are available to meet the young peoples' needs.
Agreeing and implementing, with all relevant people, the action that will be taken to meet those needs.
To act as Key Worker to one or more young people and take lead responsibility for assessing their needs, devising, implementing, co-ordinating and reviewing their care plan(s) to ensure individual needs are met such as;

  • Ensuring dietary, religious, cultural, medical, social and emotional, education, leisure and every day personal care needs are met.
  • Accompanying young people to contact, school, court, doctor, hospital etc.
  • Spending time with young person on a one to one basis, carry out direct work.
  • To liaise with the company consultant therapists in respect of planning the therapeutic needs of individual.
  • As a Key Worker to consult with parent(s), social worker, line manager(s) and other concerned professionals if involved.
Representing the company and advocating for young people at reviews, planning meetings etc including providing written reports.
Maintaining accurate and objective written records in logs, daily sheets and files etc.

To provide support to young people in school, at clubs and activities to help sustain their attendance at and access to wider social opportunities.


RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO STAFF:
Attending staff meetings and handovers, contributing by reading, and writing reports, sharing and receiving information.

To attend in house training opportunities that are provided and participate in programmes offered in line with 'Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards'.

To participate in Level 3 Children & Young Peoples Workforce Diploma & where appropriate Level 5 training, managing your time effectively to include study within your own time.

Providing support to colleagues by being aware of and responding to individual and group needs.

To support colleagues and children through verbal and physical interventions by carrying out the approved methods of positive behaviour management, care and control.

Maintain good time keeping, attendance and reliability.
Being available as back up in crisis situations in line with company polices and procedures.
Discussing and overcoming personal differences in order to contribute to an ambient environment.
Take part in and contribute to regular supervision with self evaluation and appraisal every 12 months.
To work on a rota basis, which includes bank holidays, weekends, sleep-in duty and waking night cover if required.
To take responsibility for your own professional development and be accountable for your practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN GENERAL:


Any other duties as appropriate to the post, which evolve as the job progresses until the job description is reviewed.

Ability to manage stress by utilising anger dispensing techniques.
