Job overview

The post holder will provide a central role in the delivery of teaching to medical students during their Oncology Medicine placements.


• This will involve facilitating sessions to allow students to achieve learning

outcomes with the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes to care for patients with life-limiting diseases and those dying.

• Delivery of specialist practice in a patient centred and clinically effective way in line with Trust policies and procedures and national guidelines.

• In partnership with the Oncology SIFT lead Consultant, responsible for the development of Medical student education in Oncology Medicine.

Hold current NMC registration: Registered Nurse – Hold a first-level degree (or working towards), and have demonstrable post-registration experience including holding or working towards a post-graduate certificate in education, and demonstrable evidence of experience of working in Cancer care.



Main duties of the job


• Responds and acts to the needs of patients working in conjunction with the Inter Professional Health Care team.

• To ensure appropriate and effective use of allocated resources.

• Identifies and supports developments in service improvement and redesign, ensuring delivery of a quality service.

• To liaise with patients concerning their participation in teaching, and with the medical staff on administrative aspects of their care. Liaise and work alongside clinicians of all levels and professions.
