ABOUT THE ROLE

The Welsh Institute of Physical Activity, Health and Sport (WIPAHS) was established in 2019 to increase the research capacity of Sport Wales in collaboration with Universities across Wales, with the aim of promoting the health benefits associated with sport, physical activity and recreation. The Welsh Institute of Physical Activity, Health and Sport is a two-way partnership between Sport Wales and Wales's leading academic health, sport and exercise scientists based across all Universities in Wales (Swansea University, University of South Wales, Bangor University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Aberystwyth University, Wrexham Glyndŵr, University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Cardiff University). This partnership also engages key stakeholders who are pivotal to the generation of projects and direction of WIPAHS.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the continued development and implementation of WIPAHS. WIPAHS functions as a pan-Wales collaborative network involving all eight higher education institutes and Sport Wales, aiming to boost research capacity and translate findings into policy and practice. The mission is to use the transformative power of physical activity and sport to promote the Nation's health and well-being. The role entails coordinating diverse projects based on stakeholder interests, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, translation-driven environment, integrating inputs from various sources for optimal research delivery and dissemination.

Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field, demonstrate expertise in physical activity, health, or sports promotion, and have a grasp of relevant policies and their implementation. Additionally, candidates should have experience leading projects and ensuring their successful delivery within stated timeframes, including outputs to diverse audiences through various mediums, along with engaging in public outreach activities. While Welsh language proficiency is desirable, it is not mandatory.
