Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

Be a part of something amazing...

As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region, The Fitzwilliam Museum acts as a crucial bridge between the University, the City and the rest of the world, and has an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, award-winning public programmes and significant collections spanning many cultures and centuries. The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is a sub-department of the museum and is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in paintings conservation and heritage science.

Part of Learning and Public Programmes, the Creative Action Coordinator post is a new 12-month fixed term post that will play a vital role in unlocking the Fitzwilliam Museum's collections, and the research activities which underpin them, for a larger and more diverse audience.

The Creative Action Coordinator supports the Public Programmes Manager and the Studio team to coordinate and deliver inclusive, dynamic projects exploring the collection with communities, young people, and local partners online and onsite. Working alongside the Learning and Public Programmes Coordinator, this is a varied, hands-on delivery and project coordination role that would suit a creative thinker interested in cultural heritage and engaging with contemporary ideas, who is great with people, and keen to learn more about the ways museums engage audiences through non-conventional programming spaces.

The post holder will be collaborative, have strong communication skills and an excellent understanding of the importance of connecting with diverse audiences. They will have experience supporting accessible creative learning experiences, and bring a passion and interest for public space live arts and participation, as well as online engagement.

In return we offer an encouraging and supportive environment, generous holiday allowance, an attractive pension scheme and many employee benefits such as a shopping discounts scheme.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 July 2025 in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.

Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.

We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
