Administration Assistant

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom St Matthew's Primary School Full time

Administrative Assistant (permanent)

Hours to be worked: Monday to Friday, 8.00am-4.00pm, one day tbc to 4:30pm (38 hours per week).

We are looking for the right person to join the friendly team working in our school office.

The role will involve general office duties, including dealing with enquiries, first aid (perhaps including care of an insulin-dependent child, for which full training will be given), lettings and dinner money, and generally to help ensure the smooth running of the school reception area. Members of our office team also take on leading roles in certain aspects of the job description – e.g. pupil attendance. The job description covers the full range of responsibilities of our administrative assistants – no one administrative assistant is primarily responsible for all of these duties at the same time - the roles are shared between the team members as appropriate. We like to work closely with all of our staff to match their specific responsibilities to their experience, hours and, where possible, their interests. This supports our staff in their professional development.

St. Matthew's is an exciting place to work. Situated in the centre of Cambridge, just off East Road near the Grafton Centre, we are a community primary school (not affiliated to any church, despite our name) serving a very diverse community with over 25 different languages spoken by the children. We have high academic standards, a positive, inclusive ethos, excellent pastoral care and a sense of innovation, adventure and fun. These characteristics are highly valued by our staff team, our children and our supportive parents.

There may be some flexibility regarding the hours worked – we would consider candidates who could only work part time hours if we were able to recruit other candidates who could work the additional hours. The post would start fully in September, though some days in advance of the start date to have some handover and training to prepare would be ideal.

The application form can be found on our website at
