Manages the implementation and delivery of a range of risk services to designated project(s) within the PMO and planning centre of excellence.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Accountable for supporting the risk management performance and effective implementation of risk framework(s)/strategy(s).
  • Contributes to team performance, driving performance and results, whilst delivering performance management, technical development and coaching.
  • Builds strong professional relationships with client/client representative(s).
  • Provides advice and support to project team in the administration of the risk process, particularly with respect to the risks to achievement of key objectives and the escalation of risk(s).
  • Facilitations and delivery of risk workshops.
  • Works with project manager to recognise opportunities and mitigations to minimise risk exposure.
  • Responsible for supporting the risk management performance on their assigned commission(s).
  • Effective implementation of risk framework(s)/strategy(s) on assigned commission(s).
  • Accountable for ensuring risk mitigation action plans are developed, owners appointed and that project plans are updated and monitored.
  • Supports the delivery of project quantitative risk analysis (cost and time).
  • Delivers monthly risk reports, externally to client and internally to project team, contributing on the adequacy of contingency as part of the regular reporting cycle.
  • Ensures all activities/operations are carried out in line with Mace control centre, client requirements and prevailing legislation.
  • Actively engages in the integration of risk with PMO and planning disciplines.
  • Supports more junior risk managers and other project staff as required.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

  • Experience of working on complex construction projects.
  • Experience of delivering effective risk management/ assurance frameworks/strategies.
  • Working knowledge of risk tools, techniques and software (e.g., active risk manager, riskHive, Primavera risk analyser, Primavera P6).
  • Effective communication and engagement skills.
  • Effective networking skills.
  • Creating and delivering persuasive and engaging presentations to client(s).
  • Understanding of construction project lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of risk service delivery in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals).
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to form effective working relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence others.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex information and ideas for a non-technical audience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Exhibits some commercial acumen at time.
  • Good communication and engagement skills.
  • Effective networking skills.
  • Ability to coach teams.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours, relationships and still secure a positive outcome.
  • Resilient/robust in the face of challenging situations, clients, personalities.
  • Flexible, pragmatic and adaptable but also knows when to fight their corner.
  • Up to 5yrs experience or equivalent supporting the delivery of a range of project risk management services within the construction sector.

You'll also have:

  • General awareness and some practical knowledge and application of risk/data analytics,
  • Power BI and other reporting suite tools.
  • Basic knowledge of risk tools, software (e.g. riskHive, Primavera risk analyser, @risk, active risk manager).
  • Creating and delivering persuasive and engaging presentations to Client(s).
  • Relevant university degree (e.g. risk management, engineering) or equivalent.
  • Progress towards achievement of chartered status (or equivalent) and/or membership of professional a relevant professional institution e.g. Association of Project managers/institute of risk management.
