We are looking for an ambitious and experienced full time graphic design professional to join the University and help us become sector leading in our approach to brand marketing. The successful candidate will need to have previous experience in a similar role, having had a positive impact on the profile and understanding of their organisation and demonstrate a high degree of creativity and innovation.

This post has responsibility for the development and management of a range of content which will creatively and effectively tell the brand story of Bangor University.

Candidates should be educated to degree standard (or equivalent) in Graphic Design or a related relevant discipline or have significant similar and relevant experience including previous experience in a graphic design role with evidence of significant positive impact on awareness and understanding of the brand.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Purpose of the Job

Working with the Director of Brand and Campaigns to develop creative, innovative ideas and concepts to communicate and promote key student recruitment activity and University Ranking and reputation activity.

The role will be key in supporting the University to raise awareness of who and what Bangor University is, inside and outside Wales, making it relevant for a Welsh, English and wider UK audience.

The post holder will need to be engaged with other areas of the Directorate including communications, recruitment, international and alumni, to support and integrate with their aims and objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist technical knowledge and expertise to develop creative, problem solving concepts for a wide range of (materials).
  • University marketing campaigns and strategic projects to be implemented across a wide range of platforms including print, web, video, social media and other presentation media.
  • Provide independent advice on concept development to internal staff using external suppliers and service providers. Liaise independently with internal staff regarding marketing projects.
  • Interpret their requirements and develop conceptual design solutions to engage with their required target audience.
  • Contribute to the development of the marketing department by identifying new and improved methods for communicating with the University's target audience utilising up to date technology, software and equipment.
  • Maintain brand and message consistency across University channels. Ensure high standards are maintained in the quality of graphic design work produced to meet the University's needs.
  • Carry out any other duties, which are appropriate to the post as may be reasonably requested by the Director of Brand and Campaigns.

  • The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.
