About the job

This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and embedding a range of diversity and inclusion initiatives and action plans to support the I&D Strategy.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Develop, implement and embed diversity and inclusion initiatives to support the I&D Strategy and Action Plan
  • Engage with employees at various locations to promote Inclusion and Diversity
  • Deliver training and awareness for employees and Managers through a range of mediums
  • Serve as a point of contact on matters relating to I&D from other managers and colleagues.
  • Manage submission plans for any accreditations such as the Inclusive Employers Standard.
  • Support the recruitment team to identify under-represented roles and help create campaigns that appeal to diverse applicants and removes bias from the process.
  • Identify external trends and implement best practice which will increase diversity and inclusion among the workforce.
  • Building effective relationships among colleagues (particularly ones from under-represented groups) throughout the organisation to understand needs and to assist with embedding I&D into all elements of the business.
  • Review the organisation's workplace, policies and procedures, ensuring that these are all inclusive.
  • Representing SWR at various events which promote diversity, such as Pride events.
  • Work with and support relevant network groups with achieving their individual objectives. Help co-ordinate events, programmes and initiatives developed by the network groups
  • Work with the Communications Team to deliver the I&D Communications Plan to promote I&D related campaigns and initiatives.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders and project teams to ensure that their respective needs are fully identified and input into plans and initiatives
  • Review SWRs Diversity Impact Assessments to assess any adverse impacts of minority groups
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, equality and fairness through demonstrating and role modelling inclusive behaviours.

You'll need:

  • Previous experience of working with I&D Strategy to enable you to play a key role in supporting the Head of I&D to deliver the SWR I&D Strategy and Action Plan
  • Previous experience of developing and delivering training
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant equality and diversity legislation and the practical application of it in policies, procedures and practices with demonstrable success
  • Ability to understand and analyse relevant workforce diversity data
  • Be agile and flexible in their ability to switch between strategic proactive activities for the business and any reactive business needs
  • Experience of completing accreditation/benchmarking frameworks
  • Good understanding on the application of Diversity Impact Assessments
  • Previous experience of delivery Inclusion and Diversity training/awareness to managers and colleagues
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, the ability to be proactive and use initiative to deliver to deadlines, and demonstrable experience of working collaboratively to achieve goals.

About the location

This role will require you to travel around the network, however, your primary location will be Overline House.

Overline House is conveniently situated overlooking Southampton Central Station and is easily accessible by public transport. The station is very local to West Quay, a hub for retailers and restaurants, and provides an excellent link between London, Coastal areas and the Isle of Wight.

Working pattern

You will be working an average of 37 hours per week across 5 days, typically Monday - Friday, office hours.
