Tes is supporting the appointment of a Head of Economics and Business Studies to join a School based in Hertfordshire.
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Required for September 2024
They are looking for a superb, dynamic and experienced teacher of Economics, to lead the teaching of the subject, and to head up the Economics and Business Department. This role would suit a current Head of Department as well as an established Teacher of Economics who is looking to make the next step in their career.
You must have recent experience of teaching Economics to A-Level and be prepared to line manage the teaching of the department as well as taking on some teaching of Business as required. They are seeking a pro-active practitioner who will be highly motivated, show commitment to self-improvement, and is willing to take the lead in developing the department as it moves into a new phase of its development.
Economics and Business Studies are popular choices at RMS and pupils are offered Business Studies at GCSE and both Business Studies and Economics at A-Level. It is worth noting that students do not have to study Business Studies at GCSE in order to take it as an A Level subject. Economics and Business Studies courses are a popular choice for RMS students at degree level including Economics and PPE at Oxford and Cambridge.
The Economics and Business Department at RMS fully supports the aims of the School in striving to create an inspirational environment for all members of the school community to fully realise their potential. They are committed to ensuring that the needs of all individual students are met through engaging and dynamic lessons along with individual pupil support as necessary. In addition to teacher support both inside and outside lessons, the Department offers students opportunities to enter such competitions as the 'Student Investor Challenge' and fully encourages them to take part in their extensive "Young Enterprise" activities, amongst many others. In every case, they feel it important to immerse the students in real-life applications of their study wherever possible.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated, show commitment to self-improvement and to the extracurricular life of the department and that of the school.
