Senior Product Designer

The Reed.co.uk Design Team is a group of talented, enthusiastic and motivated designers and researchers. User Centred Design is at the heart of everything we do, collaborating across the business to move Reed products to the next level.

We are looking for a creative and well-rounded senior design professional, with a strong UX background. You will report into the Head of Design and work closely with Product, Development and Marketing teams to deliver multi-device product experiences thatwill place Reed digital experiences ahead of the market.

This is a key role within the Reed design organisation, with ownership of design for multiple products, management and evolution of the Reed Online Design System, and helping to create and deliver our product and design strategies. You will mentor more juniorteam members to help them grow and develop their abilities within the Product Design discipline.

**Key Responsibilities / What you’ll do**:

- Leadership - As a Senior member of the Design Team, champion a user-centric design process and a culture of design excellence with Reed.co.uk.
- Design Outcomes - Own the delivery of elegant solutions across Reed.co.uk’s products - from early discovery and exploration through to pixel-perfect designs, ready for development.
- Research - Lead in and design user experience research and usability studies, from quick validation to large-scale qualitative and quantitative research projects
- Analysis - Analyse and translate qualitative and quantitative research findings into actionable insights and user experience recommendations.
- Document and share progress - Create and document design and research principles and guidelines for Reed digital ecosystem.
- UI Patterns - Help translate requirements and brand guidelines into compelling, re-usable designs.
- Design System - Lead the production and maintenance of the Reed.co.uk Design System, championing its evolution and use throughout the Reed.co.uk business.
- Strategic decisions - Confident supporting and challenging requirements, briefs and assumptions.
- Building knowledge across the team - Lead regular UX workshops, reviews and other team-wide design efforts as well as help drive the understanding and importance of UX across the organisation

**Skills and Experience**
- **Demonstrated experience in the field** - 5+ years of hands on experience with a range of UI/UX and interactive work and the accompanying portfolio of digital experiences.
- **UI Expertise** - Excellent typography, iconography, colour and layout skills.
- **UX Understanding** - Experience of a range of User Experience specialisms, including user research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, user testing.
- **Tools** - Expert proficiency with Figma / Sketch, Adobe CS or other relevant tools.
- **Technical understanding** - Familiarity with development software and development processes.
- **Stakeholder management** - Comfortable managing expectations, challenging and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- **Taking people with you** - Proven ability to act as a leader in communicating design rationale, using engaging storytelling to ultimately sell the vision.
- **Time-management -** Must be self-motivated to prioritise and manage workload and meet critical roadmap milestones and deadlines, as well as manage others when required.
- **Commercial awareness** - Appreciation and understanding of the commercial landscape and ecommerce trends and always aware of the balance between user and business requirements.
