Bridgwater TAUF United Kingdom EDF Energy Full time

Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater

Are you an enthusiastic Leader looking to advance your career? Do you have experience managing complex, high-value projects? Are you skilled in project and program management within the nuclear industry? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment with daily challenges and opportunities?

If so, join us as a Maintenance Manager and you'll join one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity...

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As a Maintenance Manager, you will ensure the care, preservation, and maintenance of all permanent equipment throughout the project lifecycle. You will develop and implement a Maintenance Strategy to achieve world-class standards, supporting HPC's safety and operational performance goals. Central to this role is recruiting and developing a team of approximately 150 Engineers, Technicians, and Support Personnel, who will create processes and procedures for all maintenance activities. Maintenance will play a key role in establishing and reinforcing our nuclear safety culture.

Reporting to the Commissioning Programme Director, you will provide strategic leadership for all maintenance aspects and collaborate closely with the CommOps Leadership team and senior leaders across the HPC project, including Construction, Delivery, and Supply Chain. Your success will depend on strong partnerships with these leaders to ensure the project's overall success.

Pay, benefits and culture

Along side a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle, and the opportunity to earn bonus.

At EDF, everyone's welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We're committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We'll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you'll be doing

  • Implementing a strategy to build and train a qualified department for project responsibilities.
  • Providing competent support during construction, equipment installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensuring compliance with Nuclear Site License Conditions and maintaining regulator relationships.
  • Developing and enforcing safe, compliant, and reliable performance policies and processes.
  • Setting and reinforcing in-field standards for the Comm-Ops organisation.
  • Advocating care and maintenance of all stored and installed equipment.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to deliver Long Term Service Agreements for maintenance.
  • Managing the identification, purchase, and storage of spares and special tools.
  • Collaborating to secure necessary resources for successful project execution.
  • Overseeing and developing your team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Monitoring and assessing departmental performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Developing training plans to ensure team competency and support long-term departmental growth.

Who you are

Your background may include some of the following:
