We have an involved and varied role as a Senior Pensions Strategist to join the pensions team on a 13 - month fixed term contract to support the Head of Pension Strategy. You'll manage all pension scheme matters from a company and trustee perspective, taking the lead on appropriate projects including, defining the pension strategy for AXA UK, which entails advising the company and trustees regarding the asset and liability management of the scheme. You'll also advise the company on any implication of the scheme on the IFRS balance sheet and Solvency II balance sheet and make recommendations to the Trustee Board and AXA UK Board regarding the risk management of the Scheme.

What you'll be doing:
  • Provide a stand in and representation of the views of the Pension Strategy Team, along with the Trustee of both AXA UK Group Pension Scheme and the Trustee of AXA Ireland Pension Fund.
  • Influence the Board of the AXA Ireland Pension Fund in setting and implementing its strategic objectives.
  • Deliver on innovative approached to modelling of liabilities for both AXA UK and Ireland and deliver strategy recommendations to the company and Trustee based on a holistic risk framework.
  • Provide analysis in construction of hedging strategies asset and liabilities and lead in the implementation of strategies in an effective way.
  • Form an integral part of the project team in the delivery of strategic imperatives on behalf of Trustee and company, including asset manager, strategic mandate changes and legal reviews
  • Oversee the ongoing management of existing longevity, swap arrangements ensuring appropriate succession planning is in place.
  • Manage the calculation of the Solvency II capital associated with the pension scheme on a regular basis with appropriate reporting to stakeholders and committee.
  • Lead on the IFRS accounting process at the year end, ensure appropriate inputs into the strategic planning cycle and monitor IFRS impact. and seek to provide management with optimisation opportunities for the AXA UK and entity balance sheets.
  • Delivery of accurate and timely reporting and MI for the AXA UK Board and other third parties such as regulators with relevant analysis.
  • Seek opportunities to improve existing process across the pension and investment spectrum, striving for cross department collaboration.
  • Managing external providers and consultants where required to deliver projects.

What we're looking for:
  • Chartered Financial Analyst or Actuary within investment or pensions.
  • Ability to build and manage key relationships and act independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to write and present Board papers.
  • Relevant product and industry knowledge such as pensions, investment, risk management.
  • Knowledge of risk quantification tools and techniques including stress and scenario testing
  • Apt to focus on results through drive, raising the standards and ability to execute.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to work well under time pressure.
  • Analytical problem solving skills, through the ability to understand issues, develop ideas and take the risk to act on them.
  • Good understanding and use of market tools such as Bloomberg, UBS delta, Microsoft Office skills such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
