Housing Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Housing Consultant to lead a critical project for a local authority client. The consultant will design, commission, and undertake a procurement process to award contracts for housing solutions with support for single homeless individuals. This role is crucial in ensuring the needs of single homeless people are met efficiently and effectively, following reductions in Housing Related Support Services within Suffolk.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Conduct a housing needs assessment, including a review of existing pathways for single people.
  • Review current temporary accommodation provision and the accommodation for the rough sleeper project.
  • Develop a new single housing pathway.
  • Create service standards, KPIs, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the County Council and neighbouring authorities to ensure harmonisation and economies of scale where appropriate.
  • Deliver a final report by the end of September 2024, with milestones including market engagement and procurement design and publication.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Senior-level experience in the supported housing field or social housing sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of local authority housing duties and housing pathways for single homeless people.
  • Local knowledge of the Suffolk system and opportunities.
  • Proven success in delivering projects on time, within budget, and with added value.
  • Ability to develop partnerships in the voluntary and statutory sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills to deliver complex messages to a wide audience and support existing management teams.
