Position: Controls/Commissioning Engineer

About the Role: We are looking for a skilled Controls/Commissioning Engineer to produce design documentation and program PLC & HMI systems. You will be responsible for testing and commissioning systems on customer premises, ensuring successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret customer and regulatory requirements for software designs
  • Design panels/control systems per business and customer needs
  • Issue software design documents according to schedule
  • Verify design quality with the Electrical Engineer and Design team
  • Communicate project status to all stakeholders
  • Report project performance to the Electrical Engineer
  • Provide technical support during design review meetings
  • Plan project milestones with the Electrical Engineer
  • Support machine commissioning activities for successful FAT & SAT
  • Ensure compliance with ISO14001, ISO9001, and OHSAS18001 standards
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Project manage and oversee specific projects within budget and timelines
  • Use third-party/supplier software for specific calculations
  • Collaborate with design engineers to meet customer requirements
  • Input data into the company's database
  • Understand the CE marking process for machinery
  • Perform site surveys, including international travel
  • Conduct risk assessments on machinery
  • Collaborate with clients and technical teams
  • Design electrical control panels per BS EN 60204/BS EN ISO 13849
  • Inspect control panels for compliance with BS EN 60204

Key Skills:

  • Understanding of control system design principles
  • Competent in control system design and development for special purpose machinery
  • Experience solving technical problems and performing design analysis
  • Proficient in technical calculations and working within multi-skilled environments
  • Project management experience with tight timescales
  • Ability to provide quality information within deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in client-facing roles
  • Strong PC skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel

Qualifications:

Apprentice-trained in electrical or mechatronic engineering with post-apprenticeship software design experience
