Court of Protection Solicitor – UK Law Firm – London

Taylor Root have partnered with a leading UK law firm in their search for an experience Court of Protection Solicitor to join the team in London. This role is a 12 month fixed-term contract ideally starting asap.

The Firm

Our client is an internationally recognised UK based law firm who provide expertise for businesses and individuals. These include regulatory bodies, local authorities and government bodies, as well as large public companies, owner-managed businesses and individuals.

The Team

The firms private client team have two core areas, traditional private client work covering Wills, Probate, Trusts and Tax; and Court of Protection work. The team are consistently ranked in Tier 1 – 3 on the Legal 500 for the above areas, representing clients in the UK and abroad.

The Role

Whilst forming part of the wider Private Client team, this role will be focused on Court of Protection work. This will include:

  • Supporting the professional Deputies/Trustees in their role including contact with the clients and their families and attending annual review meetings
  • Court applications for the appointment of Deputies
  • Routine Court applications for matters such as property sales and purchases, approval to make payments on account of gratuitous care etc.
  • Complex Court applications for approval to make statutory wills, make gifts and/or loans on behalf of the Protected Party and approval to establish settlements.
  • Court applications for replacing incapacitated trustees.
  • Preparation of Re ACC applications.
  • Litigation support to our specialist Clinical Negligence team, working closely alongside them in on-going litigation matters.
  • Assisting with the production of reports as required, including preparing annual deputyship reports on forms OPG102 and OPG105.

The Ideal Candidate

The firm are looking for an experienced Court of Protection solicitor or a Private Client law practitioner with a specialism in Court of Protection work. Ideally you will have upwards of 3+ PQE gained from another leading law firm.
