UK QUALIFIED SOLICITOR

We are a well-known law firm dedicated to providing access to justice. Our legal professionals specialize in criminal defense, family law, housing, civil liberties, and human rights. Recognized by Legal 500 and Chambers UK, we are currently seeking a Duty Solicitor to join our Crime Team at our South East London office.

This is a full-time role within a vibrant and expanding team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Representing clients held at police stations
  • Managing a caseload of criminal defense cases covering various offenses
  • Conducting advocacy in Magistrates' Court, including summary trials (and Crown Court hearings for candidates with Higher Rights)

About you:

  • Solicitors with a minimum of 1 year's PQE in criminal law
  • Crime duty accreditation is desirable, but not mandatory. However, the selected individual will be expected to acquire this accreditation if not already held
  • Strong communication and advocacy abilities
  • Proficiency in IT
  • Able to handle a challenging caseload with minimal supervision
  • Exhibits a practical, professional, and positive attitude
  • Passionate about publicly funded work
  • Detail-oriented and confident working both independently and collaboratively
  • Exceptional client and team relationship skills
  • Proficiency in IT
  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines and maintaining composure under pressure
