The Role:

As a Community Learning Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting diverse learners in their journey to integrate into UK society, pursue further education, and enhance their overall quality of life. You will work with individuals from various backgrounds and tailor your teaching approach to meet their unique needs. Whether helping them settle into the UK, reconnect with education, or enhance their career prospects, you will be instrumental in their personal growth and community engagement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting Learners' Integration: Assist newcomers in settling into UK life, including understanding cultural nuances and practical aspects of living in London
  • Educational Guidance: Help learners take their first steps into education or return to study after a long gap, offering support in literacy, numeracy, and basic skills
  • Community Engagement: Encourage and facilitate learners' participation in community activities, fostering a sense of belonging and social cohesion
  • Financial and Career Development: Provide guidance on managing finances, improving work prospects, and accessing job opportunities
  • Maximizing London's Resources: Guide learners on how to make the most of London's cultural, social, and economic opportunities
  • Wellbeing Support: Offer strategies and resources to improve learners' mental and physical wellbeing
  • Family Support: Assist learners in supporting their families, including navigating the educational system and accessing local services

About You:

  • Must have a recognised teaching qualification (Level 3 or above)
  • Previous demonstrable experience in an education environment and/or relevant family welfare setting
  • Experience of teaching, learning and assessment
  • IT, including but not limited to Office 365 and associated applications
  • Organisation of workload and time management
  • Passion for the wellbeing and empowerment adult lifelong learners and families
